D&Tea is a values-driven company focused on selling the highest quality tea with exceptional customer service to the most awesome nerds in the world. After being founded in 2019, we went from a small company just scooping tea and putting them into paper bags at a convention to now having branded packaging, tumblers, barcodes, and even paying the owners every once in a while.
This growth came not from us, but from the fantastic support we have had from the most amazing people we’ve ever met. It’s people like you who drive the growth around this company. No marketing budget could ever compete from the power of a new (or old) fan who’s hopped up on their first cup of Underdark & Chill.
As the world evolves, it’s important for a business to lay its values out and to ensure that they stay true to the values they were founded on. We would like to use this page to provide a list of our commitments to ourselves, our community, and beyond. We are not here to evangelize, we are not here to shame others, we are here as a point to ourselves.

Being British, Gideon comes from a long line of tea drinkers. Gideon has been playing Dungeons and Dragons since he was a young boy and today owns his own house and is building a dedicated shed to play games in.

Where we’ve come from
We have failed throughout our history on every single point above at some point or another. It’s important to address these issues and not shy away from them. Growth can be forged through the crucibles of hindsight and true self evaluation. D&Tea should not be complacent in having a page dedicated to who we want to be, without regular re-assessment that we are, in fact, working to achieve them.
Where we go from here
Any person at any level of our business should feel comfortable calling out our errors so we can address them, and it’s management’s job not to become defensive but engage and be self critical. We have screwed up, we will screw up more, be open, be transparent, and let’s do better this time.
How much tea is in a bag of tea?
All D&Tea brand teas come in packages of 4oz, which makes about 30-40 cups depending on how much tea you use.
How much is shipping?
Our shipping is a flat rate of $5 in the US and various other flat rates around the world (never more than $11). Expedited shipping is a little more, and generally takes about 3 days, while the standard flat rate ships in 5 days.
Also, spending $50 will only get you free shipping to the U.S. Sorry!
How much caffeine is in your tea?
All our teas except the herbal teas (those in red bags and labeled “herbal”) are caffeinated. Generally, our green teas are lower in caffeine than our black teas, but we have not evaluated the amounts. As a ballpark, you will get somewhere between 30mg and 50mg in each cup (for a reference, a cup of coffee will go up to around 100mg). We are super excited about not only caffeine but the way it works in our tea.
Caffeine in tea is slow released, so not only are you getting less of it, you are getting it at a more controlled rate. This means none of the jitters, but all of the massive benefits of caffeine. If you want to learn more information about this, you should totally listen to Michael Pollan’s audiobook “Caffeine” which is a pretty great history of the stuff.
Are you in my local game store?
Maybe! There are a couple stores we are trialing a partnership with, but we have really fun things coming down the pipe. Make sure you ask your FLGS to carry D&Tea. You can directly support us here on our own store, or you also find us on Amazon in the United States and soon in Canada as well.

If you don’t like the product, message us within 30 days and we will give you a full refund. It’s not “no questions asked” — we are going to ask a few questions, because we want to have the best product we can have and want to find out what we can do to cater to you better. We might give you brewing tips or other things to try to see if that helps you enjoy it more. However, if you still don’t like it, we will give you your money back. We want you to tell your friends “I really didn’t like the tea, but I really did love that D&Tea person who helped me.”
